The lion

A carved lion head, rough-cut and finished, with the mane worked in fine lines.

Langton's work is shaped by love, family and togetherness. Here he turns to the lion, carving the mane in fine, close lines and giving the face a calm, direct expression.

The photographs show the head in the yard, in the stone and then finished. Langton is a stone sculptor based in Chartwell, Gauteng, and grew up in Tafara, Harare.
